
A woman was found dead with signs of trauma in a Vista home yesterday, triggering a SWAT response and a homicide investigation. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a welfare check on the 700 block of N. Citrus Ave. around 10 AM, where they discovered the victim.
After conducting a safety sweep, an adult male suspect was found barricaded in a bedroom. Sheriff's SWAT and Crisis Negotiators safely took the individual into custody. He was later arrested on murder charges. The sheriff's department is now looking to piece together the events that led up to this incident. So far, the investigation suggests this to be an isolated incident, with no immediate threat to the wider community.
The identity of the female victim has been withheld, as authorities work to confirm her identity and notify next of kin. The Sheriff’s Homicide Unit is contacting the public for any additional information. They urge individuals with knowledge about the case to come forward.
