Collierville's Town Square was buzzing with activity over the weekend as the inaugural Sounds Like Collierville: Americana Showcase brought the community together through a shared love of music and camaraderie, according to the event's organizers. The two-day event, which kicked off on a sunny spring day, saw a mix of families, friends, and music enthusiasts come together to immerse themselves in the sounds of bluegrass and Americana.

A successful blend of live performances, shopping, and culinary delights, the Town Square became a focal point for shoppers visiting the Town-wide Spring Sidewalk Sale, with food trucks and restaurants offering a variety of tasty options. Gathering at picnic tables along North Rowlett Street, the attendees enjoyed not only the festive atmosphere but also interactive music workshops that spanned across vocals, songwriting, fiddle, mandolin, and more.

In a statement obtained by the Town  of Collierville website, Tourism Director Ashley Carver expressed her sentiments about the festival's impact, saying, "It was the kind of event that reminded us what community is all about. You could see people connecting—talking, laughing, and simply enjoying being together on Town Square, just as it was always meant to be used."

According to the Town  of Collierville website, the event attracted over 6,300 visitors throughout Friday and Saturday, and not just locals. Many attendees came from outside Collierville. Carver is quoted talking about future community events in the town, which suggests the town's picnic-style gatherings hold a broader regional appeal. According to the read proclamation, Mayor Maureen Fraser solidified April 25, 2025, as “Sounds Like Collierville Day,” highlighting a tradition that spans almost three decades of bluegrass music in Collierville's Town Square.

The festival honored local musician Joe Cupp, an original proponent of the Friday night music tradition dating back to 1999. The community marked the occasion with a special cake cutting ceremony, reinforcing the notion that music binds the people of Collierville together.
