For three days, Des Plaines, a typically serene suburb, has been the center of an intensive and mysterious police investigation that has both law enforcement and residents searching for answers. The investigation, focused on a home situated at 121 North Warrington Rd, caught local attention when the police presence spiked and portions of the residential property were sectioned off with crime scene tape. The activities have included sifting through the yard's dirt, the presence of the Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT), and trips in and out of the property with various items of potential evidence. NBC Chicago observed police employing buckets, tents, and tarps in their meticulous backyard investigation, starting Monday.
As curiosity escalates among locals, details from law enforcement have remained scarce. A nearby resident, speaking about the unsettling scene, conveyed a clear sentiment of surprise and anxious speculation to CBS News Chicago, "All I've seen is a lot of police show up, and apparently, they are looking for a body in the backyard." Despite such claims from neighborhood dwellers, Des Plaines police have yet to confirm the exact nature of the investigation or its targets.
The considerable law enforcement turnout includes the MCAT, a coalition consisting of 24 suburban police departments that offers a range of specialized services during significant criminal probes. According to an early Wednesday morning report, "They help with everything from accident reconstruction to forensic investigations," NBC Chicago reported. The Des Plaines police indicated plans to continue their work through Wednesday for a final day, yet without providing additional information.
