A Malden neighborhood witnessed an increased police presence this morning, attributed to a drug bust operation that took place at a local residence. The Malden Police Department, via a statement on their official social media accounts, disclosed the details of the operation at 14 Holden Street, explaining that the search warrant was executed as a conclusion to a narcotics investigation.
Under the guidance of Det. Sgt. Steve Fitzpatrick and supported by the Malden SOU and Everett Police Drug Unit, the raid led to the seizure of what authorities believe to be fentanyl, crack cocaine, a firearm and ammunition, and items presumed to be stolen. The operation, while heightening local police activity, aimed to iterate a message of safety and wellness to the city of Malden, according to the department's online post.
An individual named Jorge Ortega was arrested in connection to the drug and firearms discoveries. Malden Police's social media post emphasized that Ortega is presumed innocent and has the right to a fair trial, "Mr. Ortega is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law."
