These free-to-the-public music festivities are poised to bring a medley of genres — from the twang of country guitars to the soulful grooves of Motown. According to the City of Kingsport, revelers can expect eight weeks of tuneful evenings starting May 30 with weekly Friday night performances kicking off at 7 p.m.
For those with a penchant for night skies stroked with Americana vibes, pull out the lawn chairs and mark calendars for The Breakfast Club set to initiate the series with '80s flare. In ensuing weeks, the lineup continues with 20 Ride, a top-shelf Zac Brown Tribute act, and Jake Hoot's serenades on June 6 and June 13, respectively. The beat goes on with The Legacy Motown Revue and Amythyst Kiah rounding out June, whereas the annual Red, White and BOOM Celebration is set to explode with soundtracks from Night Ranger, Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley, and Donnie & The Dry Heavers on July 5. With bands like Departure and Roux du Bayou Cajun Band queued up, the musical spree extends well into July.
Downtown eateries and an array of food and beverage vendors will be on hand to dispense their culinary concoctions, ensuring that the tunes are paired with tasty offerings for a fulfilling alfresco experience. Emily Thompson, director of Fun Fest and special events, told the City of Kingsport, "For nearly 20 years the Twilight Alive Concert Series has been one of the most popular summer events held in downtown Kingsport with hundreds of people attending each and every week."
