
A tragic scene unfolded on Torrey Pines Road in La Jolla last night as a young man lost his life in a hit-and-run incident, the San Diego Police Department reports. At approximately 9:06 pm, a 25-year-old male on a 2023 Yamaha XMAX scooter crashed into a concrete barrier while traveling northbound. He was subsequently run over by an unidentified vehicle, which then fled the scene. The San Diego Police Department confirmed the rider was pronounced dead at the location of the accident.
According to the police statement, the collision occurred on the 3200 block of Torrey Pines Road. The rider, unable to handle the road's curvature, impacted a jersey barrier and was ejected into the opposing traffic lane. There, though details are still emerging, law enforcement is currently seeking witnesses, and the investigation is ongoing.
