
La Vergne Police Department reported a DUI arrest in the vicinity of City Hall in the wee hours of the morning when officers came upon a stopped vehicle with flashing hazards and a shattered rear window. The driver was discovered unresponsive at first but later displayed clear signs of intoxication, leading to their arrest and subsequent hospitalization, as per the La Vergne Police Department.
The incident occurred yesterday at approximately 2:17 AM when La Vergne Police Officers were alerted to an immobile car near City Hall. Its emergency indicators were flashing, and the back windshield had suffered damage. The officers were quick to respond by summoning medical services upon finding the driver unconscious, while they observed impairment symptoms once the driver was awakened before the emergency medical technicians arrived. In their statement, the La Vergne Police appreciated the response from Rutherford County EMS and emphasized the danger of DUI, drawing on statistics from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to highlight that every 79 seconds, drunk driving results in either an injury or fatality.
The apprehended individual became agitated upon the arrival of the EMS team but was subdued and detained for DUI; they then underwent further evaluation at a local hospital, according to police authorities, who reiterated their thanks for the professionalism of the Rutherford County EMS.
