LDWF Launches Target Range Grant Program, Inviting Applications for Shooting Range Development in LouisianaSource: Google Street View

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has rolled out the carpet for their latest Target Range Grant Program, which is now accepting applications until July 1. This initiative, detailed in a recent announcement, is touted to support the development and enhancement of shooting ranges across the state.

Local governments, their subsidiaries, non-profits, businesses, and various state and federal agencies are all eligible to apply for a share of the funding. This financial boost comes from federal funds allocated through the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act, which collects revenue from excise taxes on certain firearms, ammunition, and archery equipment.

Applicants eager to lay the groundwork for new ranges or expand their existing facilities can tap into these grants for assistance, according to the LDWF. The projects selected will be notified of their success in September, paving the way for the capital infusion post-January 2026.

The LDWF offers few details on the exact budget or grant limits, but with the July 1 deadline approaching, eligible groups should have their proposals ready. Grant recipients can use the funds to improve safety measures, enhance educational programs, or upgrade shooting infrastructure.
