Atlanta's bustling Peachtree Street experienced a pause in its usual traffic flow yesterday, with a stretch from Marietta Street NW to Walton Street NW closed off. According to a notification from the Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT), the closure, lasting from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., was to make way for maintenance work at 32 Peachtree Street.
Driven by the need to reroute, northbound travelers on Peachtree Street saw an alteration in their path - turning right onto Edgewood Ave SE, left onto Peachtree Center Ave NE, left again onto Auburn Ave NE, and finally a right turn to rejoin Peachtree St. Southbound vehicles, interrupted by the closure, were guided to turn left onto Auburn Ave NE, make a right onto Park Pl SE, another right onto Wall St SW, and then a left to return to Peachtree St.
The redirection of eastbound traffic on Walton Ave NW, too, was implemented seamlessly as drivers were instructed to turn left onto Peachtree St, right onto Auburn Ave NE, right onto Park Pl SE, right onto Wall St SW, before coming back to Peachtree St. To assist with the flow of diverted traffic, enforcement officers stood diligently, ensuring no commuter was left unaided.
Atlanta residents were advised that sidewalks along the involved portion of Peachtree Street were also out of bounds during the maintenance activities. For questions or concerns regarding the road closure, the public was directed to contact ATLDOT via email at [email protected].
