A 66-year-old man was fatally shot in Cincinnati's Madisonville neighborhood yesterday, prompting a significant police response. The Cincinnati Police Department (CPD) answered a 911 call at approximately 1:20 p.m. on the 4100 block of Homer Avenue, as reported by Local 12. Upon their arrival, they found Clyde Beard suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite rapid transportation to the hospital and attempted life-saving measures by both the Cincinnati Fire Department and EMS personnel, Beard was pronounced dead. There was a temporary block off on Homer Avenue throughout the day as CPD conducted its investigation. While Cincinnati police have not confirmed if a suspect is in custody, details concerning the lead-up to the shooting are still scarce, according to WLWT.
Residents of the neighborhood expressed shock, noting that this level of violence was uncharacteristic for the area. "There had never been any trouble at the house before," one neighbor said in a statement obtained by Local 12.
However, authorities have since managed to apprehend a suspect in connection with the shooting, as confirmed by FOX19. The CPD Homicide Unit is currently investigating the incident to determine the circumstances that led to Mr. Beard's death.
