Early this morning, a man was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the College Hill neighborhood, prompting an investigation by District 6 police. The 31-year-old victim was dropped off at a local hospital, where he is currently in critical but stable condition, as reported by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
The call for the shooting came just after 2:15 a.m., with officers arriving at the shooting scene in the 2100 block of Adelaide to find evidence of the incident. While canvassing the area, they were alerted of the victim who had arrived at the hospital. Unfortunately, due to the severity of his injuries, he was unable to provide a statement to the police.
As it stands, the authorities are urgently seeking information from the public to aid in their investigation. Those who might know something that could lead to an arrest, could be eligible for a financial reward through CrimeStoppers. Tips can be submitted anonymously by calling 866-371-TIPS (8477), or by contacting a 5th district detective directly at 314-444-0001; only tips submitted to CrimeStoppers that result in an arrest can earn the reward.
The circumstances that led to the shooting remain unclear, as details continue to emerge from the investigation. The St. Louis Police Department is diligently following up on all leads, but the importance of community assistance cannot be underestimated in violent crimes such as this one. The identity of the individual who dropped the victim at the hospital has not been disclosed, nor have any suspects been named by the authorities.
