A tragic event unfolded in the Naranja area of Miami-Dade yesterday, where 35-year-old Gregory Trevon Norman was fatally injured by gunfire. The incident occurred in the afternoon, around 1:30 p.m., with deputies responding to an alert from ShotSpotter, a gunshot detection system, at the intersection of Southwest 268th Street and 139th Avenue, as reported by NBC Miami.

Upon their arrival, Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office deputies discovered Norman with apparent gunshot wounds. He was promptly taken to a hospital in critical condition but nonetheless, later succumbed to the injuries he sustained, WSVN reported.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain murky. Deputies detained one individual at the scene, however, no information about the shooter or a potential motive has been released to the public. In the quest for answers, the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office's Homicide Bureau has taken the helm of the investigation. The authorities are calling on the community for assistance, urging anyone with information to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers, according to Local 10.

A resident of the area, Lynn McCray, expressed his dismay to NBC Miami, "I know a lot of them, a lot of them I don't know, but I see them every day,” referring to the homeless individuals frequenting the wooded area near the crime scene. “They just came back about two months ago because the city or the county got them from back there, so it might have lasted a year, and they started coming back about two months ago,” McCray noted.

Sky 10 captured the moment from above as the mobile response team rushed to Norman's aid.
