A fatal shooting in Orange Mound has claimed the life of a man, the incident occurring last Friday night. Memphis Police Department (MPD) officers were dispatched to the scene on Ethel Street at approximately 11:45 p.m., where they found the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by Action News 5.
Initial investigations by the MPD indicate that the victim and the suspect may have been familiar with each other, a detail revealed by Local Memphis. Authorities have not released the identity of the victim, nor any descriptions of the suspect at this time.
The 1000 block of Ethel Street, now a crime scene, is under investigation by the MPD. The department is gathering information and evidence to understand the events leading to the shooting.
