The Oakland Police Department has launched a manhunt for a suspect involved in a bank robbery at the Bank of Fayette County. As reported by Action News 5, the incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. yesterday and saw the suspect waiting for bank tellers to relocate cash drawers to the ATM. At that point, he approached them, donning a black mask and demanding the stolen money before fleeing southbound on Highway 196 in a black Jeep Wrangler.
According to further information disclosed by the WREG, while no physical harm was inflicted during the robbery, the FBI Task Force has been engaged to assist in the investigation of this crime, the suspect who managed to disappear driving a late-model, black Jeep Wrangler after having confronted the bank employees, this individual remains at large.
An update from the Oakland TN Police Department's social media post detailed the suspect as a thin-built male dressed in a black ski mask, black long-sleeve shirt, and blue jeans. The department specified the getaway vehicle as a black 4-door Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. "NO ONE WAS INJURED DURING THIS ROBBERY," the department stressed while urging anyone with information to contact FCSO Dispatch at 901-465-3456 to speak with an Oakland officer.
