In a night marred by violence and a high-speed pursuit, the Marietta Police Department apprehended six men following a shooting incident at the Lakeside at Town Center apartments. The chaotic scene unfolded on Wednesday night, around 10 p.m., when officers were called to respond to gunfire at the residential complex located on Williams Drive, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.
Witness accounts depicted a black BMW sedan fleeing after the shooting, and the police gave chase, a pursuit that culminated in the suspects' car losing control and colliding with a power pole. The vehicle came to rest, mangled, on its side, along the intersection of Polk Street and Mountain View Road, where the six individuals were detained. Inside the wreckage, authorities discovered four firearms: three handguns, and one rifle. Bullets had found their way into nearby homes and vehicles, the damage telling of the reckless abandon that accompanied the evening's events.
Meanwhile, two individuals connected to the shooting sought treatment for their wounds at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. They were released shortly thereafter, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. The suspects, now in custody, are facing serious felony charges including aggravated assault with intent to murder. Those charged are Artavious Corley, 19, Charles Elliot, 20, Arthur Stanley, 18, Dorian Santos, 18, Arshad Head, 23, and Alexander Gonzalez-Mendoza, 18.
As the investigation continues to unfold, the Marietta Police Department urges anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through their dedicated app or by contacting Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta. This call to action, stressed in reports from Atlanta News First, is part of a concerted effort to piece together the events that led up to such a disquieting night.
