The City of Marysville and the Marysville School District are updating their property exchange agreement made last May. The City of Marysville will get a new Public Works facility from the school district's admin building, while the district will move into the old City Hall. Both the City Council and the School Board agreed to the deal, with approvals on March 24 and March 31.
Now, the amended agreement, which was outlined in an announcement from the City of Marysville, looks to quickly shuffle forward with new timelines for design, construction, and the final move-in. The city will be dolling out a cool $2 million to the school district when the papers close, settling the score for the gap in appraised property values. It's a bold move designed to swiftly give each party what they need without missing a step.
According to the City of Marysville, the contractors hired by the city are slated to break ground this month on an addition to the former City Hall at 1049 State Ave. They aren't just putting up new walls but peppering the place with enhancements, like fresh windows and siding to dress up the old building, aiming to wrap up by December's end next year. It appears that when it comes to city projects, delays are not invited to the party.
The school district isn't moving out of its admin building until the end of the school year to avoid disrupting classes. The city has agreed to take over the building at 4220 80th St. NE by January 1, 2027, making sure there’s no disruption to the school schedule.
