Medford's north side is about to see a growth spurt with the approval of a new 73-lot subdivision dubbed Skyview Estates. As reported by the City of Medford's official website, the subdivision will stretch over 17.59 acres of a larger 94.9-acre property located east of Crater Lake Avenue. This development represents a tangible increase in the city's residential footprint, particularly considering that this space, some 600 feet north of Coker Butte Road, is currently an undeveloped canvas awaiting its transformation into a community.
The recently approved plan for Skyview Estates also reserves four additional tracts of land for future expansion in multiple directions around the subdivision. The importance of environmental management has not fallen by the wayside in these plans, either, with designated areas for stormwater treatment and detention, as well as tracts dedicated to wetlands preservation and pedestrian access. The subdivision's outline has already won the favor of the Planning Commission on March 27.
With the official hurdle of approval cleared, the next steps for developers center on detailed infrastructure design and the logistics for irrigation facilities, as outlined by the City of Medford's announcement. These are critical precursors to the actual construction work, implying that while the cogs are turning, there may still be several months before we see foundations poured and frames rising against the Medford skyline.
