Starting today, new security measures have been implemented at City Hall to improve safety. The south entrance on South Ivy Street is now the only public access point, with all other entrances restricted to staff. This change was announced in City of Medford news release.
Visitors attending City Hall functions, including City Council or Planning Commission meetings, will encounter security personnel. Metal detector screenings will be in place, and oversized items, large bags, and backpacks will be prohibited. Clear signage has been placed to direct visitors to the designated public entrance, labeled "Entrance A," as per the same release.
While no specific incident prompted the change, the new procedures aim to balance open access with enhanced security. Security personnel will be present during business and after-hours meetings.
