A tense encounter occurred in Melbourne, Florida, where a woman, Donna Elkins, is charged with aiming a gun at two boys who were fishing close to her property. According to the deputies, Elkins, 59, reportedly held the boys at gunpoint with what turned out to be a pellet gun and forced them to the ground, telling them not to move. iHeart reported that the situation ended when her husband stepped outside and disarmed her.
The incident emerged last Friday and fell within Brevard County's jurisdiction. Law enforcement officials detailed the incident. According to a Space Coast Daily report, the fishing took place on a peninsula owned by a community development district, situated roughly 30 feet from Elkins' property line, challenging initial beliefs of a possible trespassing dispute.
Elkins was arrested and faced charges, including two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of false imprisonment. Witnesses to the incident, two other children, corroborated the events described by the boys, reinforcing the public concern about Elkins' threatening behavior.
One of the boys, Brayden, 15, detailed their fear during the ordeal in a statement detailed by FOX 35 Orlando, recounting that Elkins threatened repeatedly to "blow our brains out." He recounted, "In my head, it was a real gun," expressing the genuine panic and the severe implications of Elkins' threats.
