A fatal incident occurred in Memphis, where Patrolman John M. Claridge was shot and killed while responding to a disturbance. According to the Memphis Police Department Facebook page. Claridge and his partner encountered a group of intoxicated men involved in a fight. When the officers attempted to intervene, they were attacked and severely beaten.
During the altercation, one individual pulled a firearm and shot Claridge in the head. The suspects fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Claridge was taken to a hospital but died from his injuries several hours later. He had been with the Memphis Police Department for ten months. Authorities have not yet released further details about the suspects or the ongoing investigation.
