Get ready to dive into summer as Mesa Parks and Recreation rolls out a smorgasbord of activities sure to lure you away from that couch-bound, AC-addicted lifestyle you've been plotting. Starting April 7, City of Mesa residents can promptly begin to register, at the teasingly early hour of 8 a.m., for a plethora of summer camps and programs designed to turn up the energy and bring down the heat. Those on the periphery, the non-Mesa folks, you'll get your shot a week later, starting April 14.
Teens can look forward to slamming a pickleball, mastering the tennis courts, or getting brainy with STEM-centric activities, including the so aptly titled "Summer Thriller Thursdays" at Red Mountain Center. Adults longing to momentarily escape their professional confines can jump into sports like volleyball and softball or dabble in a rotating selection of games each week with "Recess for Adults," as reported by the City of Mesa.
Kids aren't left in the dust; they have their fun cut out with everything from archery clinics and gymnastics to ice skating. Those with developmental disabilities aren't forgotten either, with adaptive recreation including summer camps and activities like bowling and rock climbing tailored specifically to their needs. City of Mesa announced details on these programs, proclaiming a variety of options for residents of all ages and abilities.
If you love water activities, Mesa Aquatics is offering private swim lessons and fun dive-in movies this summer. They’re also selling summer passes at great prices starting April 7, just ahead of the pool season launch on May 24.
If you're feeling stressed about deadlines, there are four ways to register: online through ACTIVENET, by email, over the phone, or in person. If you need help with costs, the MRS Discount can cut prices in half for youth and adaptive programs. For more information, contact the Parks and Rec team at [email protected] or call (480) 644-PLAY (7529), as per the City of Mesa.
