In a move to better align with shifting travel demands post-pandemic, the Metropolitan Council is set to pivot from the Northstar Commuter Rail to more adaptable bus services. According to a recent announcement, Metro Transit is calling on both current rail riders and potential transit users to chime in on the changes. Feedback gathered will aid in the crafting of a bus service intended to cater more precisely to the various commuting needs of today's population.
To gather input, an online survey is open for responses until Sunday, May 11, and several meetings have been scheduled. Interested parties can directly share their views in person on Tuesday, April 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Anoka City Hall, or opt for the virtual meeting set for Wednesday, April 30, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., which requires prior registration. For those regularly boarding the Northstar, there's even an onboard meeting on Wednesday, May 7, on the northbound trip leaving Target Field Station at 4:30 p.m. Lastly, another in-person session will take place on Thursday, May 8, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., at the Mississippi Library in Fridley.
