Miami International Airport (MIA) recently celebrated National Volunteer Week with a special gala honoring its dedicated volunteers. At the heart of the festivities, held on Tuesday, was the Volunteer Ambassador Recognition Gala, honoring the dedication of the airport's 40 volunteers. The event hailed Eva Trivelli, a Mexican native and City of Doral resident, crowning her as the Volunteer of the Year—a title underscored by her 16 years of steadfast service, as per the county's website.
American Airlines, maintaining its hub status at MIA, showed gratitude in the form of two ticket vouchers awarded to Trivelli. The gala, highlighted by the warmth and efforts of these volunteers, shone a spotlight on the importance of their roles within the airport's ecosystem. Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava praised the volunteers' impact, "We deeply appreciate our airport volunteers for the human touch they provide to millions of Miami-Dade County visitors every year," as reported by Miami-Dade County's official announcement. Cava's sentiments put forth, "Every positive interaction they have with passengers gives them one more reason to visit our community again, which makes their role vital to our success."
The Volunteer Ambassador program at MIA opens its arms to those as young as 16, encouraging them to offer aid to the flow of visitors traversing the airport terminals. These ambassadors commit to four-hour shifts not less than twice a month. Benefits extended to the volunteers, ranging from discounts at MIA to local attractions, seek to acknowledge their generous donation of time. For those inspired to join the ranks, more information is available at the MIA Volunteer Ambassador web page.
