Miami residents are set to enjoy another warm evening as temperatures will hover in the upper 70s with persistent southeast winds. The weekend continues to bring above-average heat, with today's highs expected to reach 86 degrees Fahrenheit, once again accompanied by those breezy southeastern gusts, according to Local 10 News.
Individuals with plans to soak in the outdoor serenity, however, should be prepared to quickly shift gears as the forecast anticipates change. A storm system, which has been to unleash relentless rain across the Central US, now threatens to bring its unsettled weather to South Florida.
While today welcomes partial cloudiness and relatively low precipitation chances, the National Weather Service in Miami forecasts "a 30 percent chance of showers after 2am" tomorrow night. This unsettled trend is expected to continue into midweek, with Tuesday night seeing a 60 percent chance for showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2 a.m.
As the storm system passes, the region anticipates a drop in mercury levels to more seasonally appropriate highs. NWS Miami predicts a descent to cooler highs near 79 degrees by Wednesday, giving residents a respite from the heat. The warmth does not seem to overstay its welcome, as National Weather Service Miami looks ahead to "a 20 percent chance of showers" for the latter part of the week, with conditions largely returning to the staple Florida sunshine.
The anticipated showers signify a brief intercession in what has otherwise been a season notable for its warmth. Sunseekers can bask in "mostly sunny" skies and a high near 82 degrees heading into the weekend. For those craving the quintessential Miami climate, Friday and Saturday are pegged to be sunny, with manageable nighttime lows around 65 degrees.
