A sizeable trove of stolen firearms has been retrieved by the Minneapolis Police Department's (MPD) Northside Community Response Team (CRT), an update that underscores the ongoing battle against illegal weapon circulation. As reported by the Minneapolis Police Department, officers managed to recover 8 out of 27 purloined handguns from a suspect connected to a theft at a UPS shipping facility, where he was employed.
Details shared by the MPD on their Facebook page reveal that the officers tracked the suspect down to Mystic Lake Casino. The man was arrested and found in possession of narcotics, along with a stash of cash amounting to thousands of dollars, which, following the arrest, the Hennepin County Jail on multiple charges welcomed him.
Eight stolen handguns have been recovered, but 19 remain missing. The MPD and ATF are working to locate them before they’re used in criminal activity. The MPD's success, however, showcases the importance of persistent and insightful police work. "Thanks to this outstanding police work, countless lives may have been saved," a sentiment echoed by the MPD on their social platform.
