The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced a bridge improvement project on Interstate 29 in Atchison and Andrew counties, beginning April 28 and continuing into the winter months. Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. to complete the work.

Construction will start with repairs on the northbound and southbound Mill Creek bridges near where Atchison County Route Z meets Corning. Work will begin on the right lanes, followed by the left passing lanes. During construction, traffic on each bridge will be reduced to one lane in both directions, and drivers should expect delays. A 15-foot width restriction will also be in place for large vehicles.

The project includes replacement of bridge decking, approach plates, and guardrails. Missouri Department of Transportation estimates that work on the Atchison County Mill Creek bridges will be completed by mid-July. Once finished, crews will shift to the Mill Creek bridges in Andrew County near Amazonia, with project completion expected by December, weather permitting.

Missouri Department of Transportation reminds drivers to wear seat belts, avoid distractions, slow down, and move over in work zones.
