An incident on Tuesday on the I-10 in Avondale involving a motorcyclist and a semi-truck has left the motorcyclist with severe injuries. The accident occurred in the westbound lanes around 12:30 p.m., near Avondale Boulevard, where a Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper attempted to make a traffic stop—the motorcyclist, instead of yielding, opted to flee. According to ABC15, during this attempted escape, the motorcyclist collided with the back of a semi-truck.
DPS spokesperson Bart Graves stated that this incident was not a pursuit. The trooper decided not to engage in a chase due to traffic conditions, which, could have escalated the risks involved. The rider was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following the accident.
