A Murfreesboro man faces serious charges stemming from a deadly accident that occurred on I-24 in July of last year. Tyler Watson, aged 28, was indicted by a grand jury on counts of vehicular homicide by reckless conduct, further compounded by four counts of reckless aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of reckless endangerment, as reported by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. The incident, which involved a series of collisions between a Dodge Ram pickup and multiple vehicles, led to the immediate death of one driver, Daniel Roberts, 39, also from Murfreesboro.
Details from the investigation reveal a scene of heavy congestion where Watson's vehicle, unable to stop in time, initiated a crash by slamming into the rear of a Toyota Solara. This initial impact precipitated a domino effect, with the Solara crashing into two other cars. Watson, according to police at the scene, showed no signs of alcohol or drug impairment. However, evidence disclosed that Watson was distracted by his phone at the crucial moment preceding the collision.
