
The New Orleans Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that took place in the Algiers neighborhood over the weekend. According to WGNO, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Sunday night in the 2100 block of Valentine Court.
Responding to the scene, NOPD officers found a man who had been shot. Declaring their arrival at 10:07 p.m., per a statement obtained by WDSU, the victim was pronounced dead. No further details regarding the identity of the victim or the circumstances surrounding the shooting were reported by the authorities.
The location of the shooting was further narrowed down by WWLTV, which described the area as near Holiday Drive and General Meyer Avenue. It has been noted that this violent event adds to a growing concern over the safety in the neighborhood, though such concerns remain unspoken at this time.
The NOPD has marked the case as an active investigation and is calling for public assistance. "Anyone with any information is asked to call NOPD or Crimestoppers," the department implored, echoing an appeal shared by WDSU.
