Southwest Transit has rolled out a new bus service to efficiently bolster the connectivity between Eden Prairie, Bloomington, and Minneapolis. According to a recent publication on Bloomington's official website, Route 686 kicked off operations in March, promising more frequent travel options to those heading to the bustling Normandale Lake District area and beyond.
From 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., the new Route 686 has been crafted to offer daily services that quickly get passengers to their destinations. The schedule boasts a bus every 30 minutes, alternating between express rides that gloss over the intermediate stops and all-stop services that tenderly visit each point along the route. The express service runs on a trimmed path, hitting essential hubs such as Southwest Station, Mall of America, and Terminal 1 at the MSP Airport.
Route 686 lays down the tracks for commuters to effortlessly switch to the Orange Line and the D-Line, enabling a tapestry of routes that interweave across the region. Riders have access to key spots along American Boulevard, with the comfort of knowing the expansive Mall of America and both the terminals at MSP Airport are well within their reach. Strategically positioned alongside I-494 and American Boulevard, the inclusion of numerous locations makes this service kind of a game-changer for local travelers.
