Tragedy struck on a quiet Ogden street when Nakeena Youngman, 40, was found shot and later died from her wounds. Ogden Police discovered Youngman in the middle of the road near 800 North 400 East just after 9 p.m. Wednesday, as reported by KUTV. She suffered from a gunshot wound to her chest and was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital.
Amidst the unfolding investigation, Youngman's family is vocal in their grieving and quest for justice. As obtained by FOX 13, Adrianna Lopez, Youngman’s daughter, described her mother as "beautiful, everybody loved her, she was the light of the room." The family suspects that the "wrong crowd" Youngman had involved herself with may have played a role in her untimely demise.
Youngman was visiting friends in Ogden at the time she was killed, based on the details shared by the family. She resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Shiloh Alires, Jr. The latter has appealed for those involved to "come forward and do what’s right," as reported by FOX 13. No suspects have yet been named publicly by the authorities.
Gail Little, Youngman's mother, conveyed her devastation to KUTV, saying, "That was my best friend." Adrianna Lopez lamented the loss as well. "My mom didn't deserve this," she told KUTV. "She still had many years ahead of her that were just taken from her in the blink of an eye."
Youngman, a mother of five and a grandmother, lived in Salt Lake City’s Rose Park neighborhood and had traveled to Ogden to see friends, her daughter told KSL TV. The family is finding some comfort in each other while grappling with the irreversible void left by her death. "My mom was fun. She was outgoing," was how Lopez remembered her to KSL TV.
