
Earlier today in the Orange Mound neighborhood of Memphis, two shootings occurred minutes apart, leaving one man dead and another critically injured, as per police reports. The first incident took place near a gas station at the intersection of Park Avenue and Airways Boulevard, with Memphis Police Department officers arriving just after 1 a.m. to find a victim who had run there from nearby Saratoga Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound, FOX13 Memphis detailed the sequence of events.
According to a witness account cited by Local Memphis, the critically injured man had been lying on the sidewalk next to a scooter allegedly telling a bystander to get away because he was "set up" while at the Save & Go parking lot, minutes from where the shooting likely occurred; the witness was pulling in when she overheard the interaction after which she called the police, and they located the crime scene on Saratoga Avenue with shell casings and the victim's 2013 Chevy Equinox present.
Shortly after handling the first crime scene, officers were dispatched to another shooting a short distance away on the 1100 block of Ethel Street as reported by Action News 5, where a man was found shot dead, resulting in a large crowd gathering, the MPD has clarified that these shootings were not related.
