Last night, tragedy struck on San Tomas Exp when a vehicle overturned, leading to a fatal accident that shut down the northbound lanes between Williams Rd and Moorpark Ave. San José Police Media Relations reported that units responded to the scene shortly after the incident occurred at 9:01 PM. This devastating event has left one individual dead and a another with major injuries.
Units are currently in the area of San Tomas Exp and Moorpark Ave investigating a major injury vehicle collision involving an overturned vehicle.

The police urged commuters to avoid the area and seek alternative travel routes as they investigated and worked to clear the accident site. The second occupant's current condition remains a matter of concern, and rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
In an update from the police, the roadway has since been reopened. They thanked the public for their patience during the hours-long closure.
