According to WFTV, 23-year-old Steven Sedillo crashed into the golf cart around 5:45 p.m., subsequently fleeing the scene on foot and being discovered hiding behind a Granada Street residence with a visible injury to his forehead.

The New Smyrna Beach Police Department was quick to respond to the incident that unfolded on the North Causeway, where witnesses promptly noted Sedillo's head injury and his flight towards Buena Vista Park. The pursuit shortly thereafter led to him being located hiding nearly a half a mile away behind a home, ClickOrlando reports. Two open beer containers were found during a search of Sedillo's vehicle, as the officers described.

Following his capture, Sedillo was arrested and faces multiple charges, including DUI, DUI with property damage or injury, hit-and-run involving injury, and resisting an officer without violence. A cooler containing ice and two open beer containers added to the evidence against him at the time of his arrest, according to information acquired by WESH.
