Tension rose at Jones High School in Orlando this past Tuesday when a 17-year-old student was found with a gun during a random weapons search.
As reported by ClickOrlando, the Orlando Police Department confirmed that a school resource officer discovered the gun within the student's backpack. This finding subsequently led to the teen being taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center, their identity shielded due to their minor status.
Despite the disturbing discovery, the incident was resolved without a physical altercation. The student is now facing serious legal repercussions, including charges of possession of a firearm on school property and carrying a concealed weapon. The Orlando Sentinel has reported that the arrest was effected posthaste after the weapon was found at approximately 12:30 p.m.
