Charges have been laid in a murder case that left a small community shaken and a family demanding justice. Nigel Thomas, a 34-year-old man from Oxford, is currently being held without bond in the Butler County Jail for the murder of 35-year-old Indiana woman Wilma Robertson. According to FOX19 NOW, law enforcement found Robertson deceased during a welfare check in her Hanover home on April 14.
In a complicated twist, before Thomas's arrest, a Louisville man was apprehended and wrongfully tagged as the perpetrator. This misdirection was the result of multiple social media posts, which Jefferson County Prosecutor David Sutter said were sent in the Louisville man's name to Robertson's family, seemingly pinning the murder on him. These accusations were revealed by Local 12, which covered the disturbing aspect of the case.
While details regarding the motive and circumstances surrounding Robertson's death remain limited, what has been confirmed is the fatal stabbing that brutally ended her life. The Butler County Jail supervisor, despite the extradition not yet clear, is holding Thomas until Jefferson County officials can retrieve him, as noted by FOX19 NOW.
The aftermath of Robertson's death and the subsequent framing of an innocent man have led to a complex legal scenario. The initial charges against the Louisville man were, of course, dropped once the deceit came to light. Meanwhile, details provided by a WHAS11 press release shed light on the accusations against Thomas.
