
A tragic accident occurred on Barker Rd in Pittsfield, MA, where a vehicle collided with a pedestrian, resulting in the latter’s death. According to a Facebook post by the Pittsfield Police Department, the incident took place yesterday at approximately 2:38 p.m. Authorities—including the Pittsfield Police Department, Pittsfield Fire Department, Action Ambulance, and Lenox Ambulance Department—responded to the scene following reports of the collision.
The vehicle, a 2009 Lincoln Town Car, was driven by 85-year-old Mr. Ricco Dus of Pittsfield, MA, and was heading north on Barker Rd when it struck Mr. Shawn Ouillette, a 62-year-old pedestrian walking in the same direction. Following the collision, Mr. Ouillette was transported to BMC, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The road was closed for around two hours from South Mountain Rd to Tamarack Rd, during the investigation process and clearing of the roadway.
As the Pittsfield community reels from this loss, the police department is reaching out for assistance to piece together the circumstances leading to the accident. They have urged anyone who witnessed the crash or has any relevant information to come forward. "Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or have any information concerning this incident is asked to contact Ofc Anthony Dayton of the Pittsfield Police Dept. at 413-448-9700 ext 543," the department’s post reads.
