Marking the return of sunny days and poolside fun, Pembroke Pines is set to make a splash with a community-focused Water Safety Day event on May 3. In observance of National Water Safety Month, the city's Recreation, Fire and Police Departments are joining forces to host the event at the Pembroke Pines YMCA Aquatic Center, located at 1361 NW 129th Avenue. The free festivities, scheduled from 10 am to Noon, are open to everyone ready to dive into a variety of water-related activities.
Attendees can expect to "Slide into Safety" with a lineup that includes giveaways, a live DJ spinning tunes and offerings of food to keep the energy high. But it's not all play; the event aims to educate, featuring demonstrations vital for teaching the community how to be safe in and around water. Paramount for families and individuals alike, these safety tips could be lifesavers, considering drowning is a leading cause of accidental death. According to a statement on the city's event announcement, participants are encouraged to bring swimwear and towels to partake in the immersive experience.
May has been dedicated as National Water Safety Month, an observance shared by Pembroke Pines in its ongoing commitment to prevent drowning and promote water safety. As a Water SMART Community, the city collaborates with fellow Broward County cities to advocate for these practices all year round, highlighting the continuous effort to ensure the wellbeing of its residents. Engaging with local authorities, organizations, and families, Pembroke Pines remains steadfast in its dedication to fostering safe swimming environments and capable, informed swimmers.
