Philadelphia recently celebrated the opening of 65 new affordable housing units in the Sharswood community. The Philadelphia Housing Authority is committed to neighborhood revitalization and affordable housing through its Choice Neighborhood Initiative. As part of this project, the city unveiled its first-ever poetry installation on sidewalks, adding a unique cultural element to the area.

Of the 65 units, 63 are newly constructed homes, providing much-needed shelter to residents. During a ribbon-cutting ceremony, Philadelphia Housing Authority introduced both the new housing and the sidewalk poetry project, which features poetry stamped into the sidewalks, creating an inspiring atmosphere for the community.

The integration of art into public spaces aims to enhance the daily experience of residents while supporting the city’s efforts to revitalize underrepresented neighborhoods. This collaboration between local artists and municipal departments merges both practicality and artistic expression, offering a lasting legacy for the community.
