Early morning yesterday saw an incident shake the quiet of Woodlawn Avenue in Pittsfield, as police were called to a stabbing at a multi-family dwelling. The Pittsfield Police Department reported that upon their arrival shortly before 3:00 am, officers found a 60-year-old man with at least one stab wound. The victim, whose identity has yet to be released, was taken to Berkshire Medical Center, where he remains in a serious condition but is expected to survive.
An investigation quickly followed the attack and led detectives to swiftly identify a suspect. Later that same morning, Pittsfield resident, 40-year-old Jason Wright, was arrested. Wright now faces charges including Armed Assault with Intent to Murder, and Assault and Battery on a person aged 60 or over. The PPD has suggested that Wright and the victim were not strangers to one another, hinting at a possible motive rooted in personal history. Meanwhile, the department urges anyone with information to come forward and help to meticulously piece together the events that led to this violent altercation.
In a social media plea, the Pittsfield Police have encouraged the community to assist in providing any additional details that might be relevant to the case.
