An incident of road rage in Port St. Lucie turned perilous over the weekend after a woman, with children in her car, reportedly pulled a handgun on other motorists. Nicolle Marie Peith, 43, was arrested and faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, according to TCPalm. The altercation occurred on Saturday in the area of Northwest University and Northwest California boulevards.
Officer Brittany Holly, a Port St. Lucie Police spokesperson, shared that upon Peith's arrest, she claimed she was driving her Nissan SUV below the posted speed limit due to another slow-moving vehicle in front of her. The victims, who were honking at Peith, perceived her response to be extreme, "The lady was going about like 10 under the speed limit, and she looked very angry, so I'm guessing maybe she was just having a bad day and was upset," Kyleigh Pinon, 21, told TCPalm. Pinon and her girlfriend were allegedly ran off the road by Peith after an attempt to pass her vehicle.
As told to WPBF, the confrontation escalated when Peith exited her car and approached the victims, stating, “Do you want me to (expletive) shoot you guys?” According to Pinon's interview with TCPalm police were called, and the victims were told to drive to safety.
Peith, who had children with her during the incident, was released Saturday from the St. Lucie County Jail on $10,000 bond, as reported by TCPalm. The victims, unharmed, continued to their planned destination, a food event at Clover Park, "We're not going to let her ruin our day, we're going to go and continue our plans, and we had a great time," Pinon said.
