A tragic turn in a case that first came to light last month, when officers responded to an assault at a care facility, has culminated in the victim's death. According to details provided by the Portland Police, the incident occurred on the 5300 Block of NE Prescott, where Reynaldo Silva, 66, was apprehended after allegedly assaulting Galen Pixler, 68.
Initial charges labeled the incident as an Assault II, a charge brought before a Multnomah County Grand Jury, which resulted in Silva's indictment. Yet on April 10, some two weeks following the assault, Pixler succumbed to his injuries. Complications linked to the assault were declared the cause of death, confirmed as a homicide by the medical examiner. In the wake of this development, authorities have indicated that additional charges against Silva may be forthcoming.
The Portland Police Bureau's statement specifically notes that anyone with further information about the case, who hasn't already conferred with law enforcement, should reach out to Detective Eric McDaniel at [email protected] or by phone at 503-823-0833. Alternatively, Detective Sterling Farrar can be contacted at (503) 823-0710 or [email protected].
As the legal proceedings against Silva potentially evolve to more serious charges, the family of the deceased, Galen Pixler, has been apprised of the tragic outcome. During this difficult period, the family is appealing for privacy.
