The City of Portland Office of Community & Civic Life is opening the vault to aid your neighborhood projects. Suppose your organization is volunteer-run and has a great idea to strengthen the fabric of your community. In that case, you might be eligible for a financial boost through the Community Activities Fund.
The fund aims to reimburse select organizations for various expenses tied to community-building and civic involvement activities. It's not an endless pot of gold, though – applications are accepted only through May 30, so time is of the essence. Or until funds run out, whichever happens sooner. The program's specificity covers expenses incurred between July 1 and June 30. This could be an opportunity to recoup some of the costs for those projects that have already made a splash in the neighborhood or for those just wrapping up as the fiscal year comes to a close.
The news came through on a modest social media post by the City of Portland Office of Community & Civic Life last Saturday. The post encourages groups to play their part in making Portland a vibrant and connected city and seize this opportunity.
