Rancho Cordova is buzzing with construction projects this spring, as the city aims to enhance road safety, upgrade infrastructure, and improve pedestrian access, according to official city announcements. Residents are advised to prepare for potential delays and to exercise caution when commuting through the affected areas.
Several sections of Grant Line Road are seeing major changes, with the segment between Raymer Way and White Rock Road currently being fitted with new LED curve-warning signs, rumble strips, widened shoulders, and a high-friction surface treatment, the city's Public Works team reports. A nearby residential development, The Preserve, is introducing storm drain facilities and a new roadway with a traffic signal, which, presumably aims to manage the increased neighborhood traffic. Motorists should anticipate lane reductions and on-site traffic control persisting into next week.
Improving connectivity and accessibility, work on the Chase Drive and American River Parkway Connection is moving forward. This project promises a separated pathway, pedestrian-friendly lighting, ADA-compliant curb ramps, bold crosswalks, as well as additional trees and landscaping. The path will line the fronts of Mills Middle School and Cordova High School on Chase Drive and will bridge to the American River Parkway bike trail at Hagan Park. With construction activity in full swing, the completion date is targeted for Summer 2025.
Also on the agenda is the comprehensive rehabilitation of Sunrise Boulevard, stretching from White Rock Road to Douglas Road. This project involves repaving, median improvements, and the installation of ADA-compliant curb ramps, the city revealed. There’s also a focus on upgrading drainage along Mechanical Drive and Recycle Road, to bolster flood protection measures for Sunrise Boulevard. When works conclude, hopefully by Summer 2025, the community is set to benefit from smoother road surfaces, heightened pedestrian safety, and overall enhanced curb appeal.
