
Earlier this morning, a rideshare driver in Salem found himself in a harrowing situation as gunfire erupted while he was picking up passengers, based on reports from Boston 25 News. The incident occurred on Albion Street in Salem, Massachusetts, shortly before 7:00 a.m., where the driver was slated to pick up three passengers.
The Salem police were quick to arrive on the scene after the shooting and found the area scattered with casings, a chilling testament to the violence that had just unfolded, no one was injured in the incident and the gunmen managed to escape before police arrived. The police have since emphasized their commitment to tracking down the individuals involved, with a spokesperson stating, "Gunplay on the streets of Salem is unacceptable, and our detectives will work tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice," as Salem police said, according to Boston 25 News.
Further information provided by NBC Boston elaborates that the driver was in the process of picking up the passengers when three individuals approached on foot and started shooting, with at least one bullet striking the vehicle. The assailants reportedly fled on foot soon after their assault.
