Local and state road closures have been announced across Destrehan, affecting everyday commutes and travel plans. According to a statement released by St. Charles Parish, Jean Street between Gordon and Amelia is closed until further notice as culverts are being replaced. Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes to avoid delays.
The Public Works department has also signaled roadwork on Jonathan Street, which will remain closed from Monday, April 21 through Friday, May 2, for emergency vehicles only. In a move to possibly ease congestion, they ask emergency vehicles to use Lorraine Street to Noel Street instead. The HULK team, aware of potential emergencies, will keep the north gate on Jonathan Street unlocked 24/7 until work is completed. Parish and Entergy vehicles, however, are encouraged to use Gordon Street for access to Noel Street.
Ormond Center Court is experiencing partial obstruction, with detours set to navigate drivers past road construction between 150 Ormond Center Court and 3001 Ormond Blvd. Commuters should anticipate possible disruptions in their travel and factor in extra time to their journeys.
Focusing on state detours, the Bonnet Carre' Spillway Road remains closed between Norco and Montz, as water crosses the road. Meanwhile, alternating lane closures will affect the northbound and southbound lanes of LA 3127 beginning Monday, April 28, through Friday, May 2, from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily for asphalt patching and concrete surface changes. Drivers should remain vigilant and follow the posted signs to safely navigate the closures.
Additionally, alternating lane closures will impact both westbound and eastbound traffic on LA 48 and US 90, with specific construction activities outlined for these routes. On LA 48, from Monday, April 28 to Friday, May 2, flagging operations will be in place for drain cleaning and catch basin services from 8 AM to 3 PM daily. For US 90, the same dates will apply for guardrail and sign installation, as well as other maintenance work, from 8 AM to 4 PM each day.
