Lake Havasu City is rolling out improvements for its roadways, specifically targeting the downtown area with utility upgrades and resurfacing projects. According to official city announcements, work is slated to begin at the intersection of Lake Havasu Avenue and Mesquite Avenue, continuing up to Riviera Drive and Mesquite Avenue. This milling and paving operation will start on Monday and last through Friday, May 2.
The initiatives do not end with daytime work. Come May 1, residents should expect a nighttime closure from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. between Querio Drive and Acoma Boulevard along Mesquite Avenue. The intent is to integrate a water tie-in, an integral piece in the city's effort for more robust utilities.
With the disruptions ahead, temporary delays and detours will become a part of the local rhythm. Traffic control measures, including signs, cones, arrows, flaggers, and other devices, will be established to redirect traffic. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes if possible and to refrain from traversing the fresh pavement until official traffic control clearance is given.
Notices will be issued 24-72 hours before work commencement, informing residents and businesses along the affected streets. The city is requesting the public to avoid parking on the streets scheduled for repaving, relocate vehicles during that time, and prevent water from spilling into the streets. For those navigating construction areas, adherence to traffic signs is emphasized for safety.
Updates on this and future traffic advisories and street projects can be found on the Lake Havasu City website.
