Heads up, drivers and commuters navigating through Terry Parkway can expect some disruptions starting next week. According to an official announcement from Jefferson Parish, roadwork is set to begin on Terry Parkway at the intersection with Belle Chase Highway. From Monday, Apr. 21 at 8 a.m. until Friday, May 9, at 5 p.m. in 2025, lane closures will be in effect, though one lane in each direction will remain open to traffic.
The lane closures, while set to cause some inevitable congestion, are in place to facilitate the replacement of concrete street panels, as the infrastructure of our daily routes succumb to the passage of time and use. Motorists will need to be prepared to use the available lanes, an exercise in patience and careful maneuvering.
Drivers are urged to use caution in the construction zone, allow extra travel time, and stay alert for changes in traffic, as workers will be on-site pouring new concrete. Taking alternate routes is a good way to avoid delays and keep your day on track. For updates, check local traffic reports and the Jefferson Parish website.
