
Last night, a routine traffic stop turned into a high-stakes chase in Concord. According to a social media post by the Concord Police Department, an officer attempted to stop a car around 10:11 PM near Clayton Rd. and Ellis St. The encounter quickly escalated when the driver, a 37-year-old Richmond man, fled the vehicle on foot, leading to an officer-involved shooting.
Despite the discharge of firearms, Concord Police confirmed that no individuals were struck by gunfire. The suspect evaded the initial pursuit, sparking a manhunt near Sutter St. and Clayton Rd. The search operation featured the coordinated efforts of the local police, the assistance of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, and a K9 unit.
Ultimately, the suspect was apprehended and found in possession of a firearm. Concord Police's Investigations Division detectives were summoned to take over the proceedings. The department's statement indicated that they actively sought additional information and urged the public's cooperation in light of the night's events.
