Following an early morning disturbance on Saturday in Dorchester, a young Roxbury man has been taken into custody facing a slew of firearm-related charges. The Boston Police Department reported that Reymi Pereira, 19, was arrested by detectives from District C-11 after being linked to a recovered firearm from a chaotic party scene.

Officers from C-11 initially responded to the uproar around 4:26 AM at 58 Westville Street, where a party spiraled into a loud argument, prompting several attendees to scatter. Adding to the turmoil, a vehicle hurtled down the street, honking repeatedly, and in an attempt to escape, it struck an officer before careening to an abrupt stop. After fleeing on foot, the driver remained at large at that moment, while the injured officer received care at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Continuing their search, officers spotted a vehicle speeding on Geneva Avenue, later finding it parked at 105 Norton Street with a hot engine and whiffs of burnt rubber filling the air. Upon closer inspection, a black Glock 17 9mm handgun was visible near the gas pedal of the dark-tinted rental car, prompting the vehicle to be towed for investigation.

The gun, later seized by police, was loaded with one round in the chamber and housed 30 more within an extended magazine. C-11 detectives were soon on Pereira's trail, whose fateful decision to walk into the police station seeking updates on his towed vehicle, was met by detectives who recognized him. According to the Boston Police Department's official release, "Detectives recognized him from their investigation and engaged him in conversation in the station lobby. Following the interaction and further inquiry, Pereira was placed under arrest."
